MATER in French cinemas!
Jure Pavlović’s debut feature Mater was released under the title Mère et fille in France on 2 June 2021.
The film has been released by Damned Films in 16 French cinemas, according to the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.
Mater was produced by Croatia’s Sekvenca in coproduction with Serbian Wake Up Film & Video Production, Les Films de l’oeil sauvage (France) and Udruženje Novi film from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Aide aux cinémas du monde – CNC, Film Center Serbia and the Sarajevo Film Fund.
Mater premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights FF in 2019 and held the second place among domestic premieres in Croatia in 2020. The film follows a middle-aged emigrant as she pays a visit to her mother, an old, bedridden Croatian woman suffering from cancer.
